BYD’s new flagship SUV – the Denza N9 plug-in hybrid SUV, was launched on the market with a price range of 389,800 – 449,800 yuan (54,000 – 62,000 USD) in China, available in two trims. The car is also the first SUV equipped with BYD’s e3 “Yisanfang” technology, which can realize crab walk, 180 km/h high-speed tire burst stability control, and tank turn, according to the official.

Consumers can choose from four exterior paints: black, silver, gray, and green.

Built based on BYD’s e-Platform 3.0, the Denza N9 measures 5258/2030/1830 mm, with a 3125 mm wheelbase. Its 3.2㎡panoramic sunroof spans across all three rows. The onboard e3 three-electric-motor system supports independent steering of the dual rear motors, consisting of a front AC asynchronous motor, a rear left permanent magnet synchronous motor, and a rear right permanent magnet synchronous motor. The front motor outputs 200 kW (268 hp)/315 Nm while the rear motor outputs 240 kW (322 hp)/360 Nm. The official moose test speed is 85.73 km/h.

The system is further paired with a 2.0T engine that outputs 152 kW (204 hp)/325 Nm and 46.9 kWh Blade battery packs, offering a CLTC pure electric range of 202 km and a CLTC comprehensive range of 1,302 km. Furthermore, the 0 – 100 km/h acceleration time is 3.9 seconds, the minimum turning radius is 4.65 meters, and the NEDC comprehensive fuel consumption is 6.3L/100km. Under fast charging, it takes 19 minutes to replenish from 30% to 80%.

For drone enthusiasts, the Lingyuan intelligent vehicle-mounted drone system jointly developed by BYD and DJI is available as an additional configuration.

In terms of intelligent driving, the Denza N9 is equipped with BYD’s “God’s Eye” B (DiPilot 300) advanced driving assistance system, which is supported by one 128-line lidar, five millimeter-wave radars, 12 ultrasonic radars, and 14 cameras. The capabilities include automatic parking assistance in vertical/lateral/diagonal parking spaces, remote control parking, emergency lane keep assist, and blind spot monitoring, just to name a few. Under night conditions, the automatic emergency braking speed can reach 110 km/h.

The interior is offered in two color themes: gray and white. It adopts a 2+2+2 six-seater layout with a “666” configuration, which can accommodate six people, six suitcases (including four 20-inch standard cabin suitcases and two children’s trolley cases), and six backpacks; or a 47-inch golf bag horizontally. There are also 46 storage spaces throughout the vehicle.

The second row of seats supports 14-way electric adjustment and is equipped with small tables, 50W wireless charging, and ventilation/heating/massage functions. The third row of seats supports 6-way electric adjustment and provides heating. The rear passengers also have access to an 11L refrigerator that supports both warming and cooling.
