On April 7, the Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA) announced the pre-sale opening of two new Luxeed R7 EREV trims called the Ultra and Max 53.4 kWh Battery Edition, featuring a CLTC comprehensive range of 1,673 km, a CLTC pure electric range of 360 km, and the Huawei ADS 3.0 advanced driving system. The pre-sale price starts at 318,000 yuan (43,700 USD) as reported by Chinese social media Xchuxing.
Furthermore, the Ultra trim is equipped with dual Huawei DriveONE electric motors and has a 0 – 100 km/h acceleration time of 4.9 seconds, while the Max trim is a rear-wheel drive.
Luxeed is the second brand launched by HIMA, jointly created by Huawei and Chery. The R7 is also the brand’s first SUV model, initially offered in all-electric powertrains, and launched in September 2024. Later in December 2024, an EREV variant was added, available in Pro and Max trims, priced between 249,800 – 289,800 yuan (34,300 – 39,800 USD). The Pro does not come with lidar and is equipped with the Huawei ADS Basic Edition while the Max is equipped with the Huawei ADS 3.0.
Both trims are powered by a 200 kW (268 hp) rear permanent magnet synchronous motor and a 1.5T engine as the range-extender, matched with 37 kWh Lithium iron phosphate battery packs, providing a CLTC pure electric range of 251 km and a comprehensive range of 1,570 km. At that time, it was reported that a four-wheel drive version would be launched subsequently.
The new EREV trims are expected to continue to be built based on Huawei’s Tuling platform and retain the same body dimensions of 4956/1981/1634 mm, a wheelbase of 2950 mm, and a drag coefficient of 0.247Cd. The Tuling platform can support dual, triple (one front and two rear), and quadruple (two front and two rear) electric motors. Properties including continuous variable damping and air suspension as well as double wishbone suspension at the front and multi-link independent suspension at the rear are supported.
Earlier on March 13, HIMA revealed that the Luxeed R7’s cumulative firm orders exceeded 80,000 units.
We’ll continue to watch for more info about the new EREV trims as they become available.
