Chery officially debuted its Tiggo 9L “large family flagship SUV” at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show. The new car will be equipped with three electric motors and Chery’s Falcon 700 advanced driving assistance system. Although the name is similar to the Chery Tiggo 9 currently on the market, both vehicles are not related.
The H-shaped headlights and taillights represent “Hero” and “Home”, according to Chery, combined with the letter logo in the middle. The two headlights are connected by LED lamp beads above the logo. The letter logo is also positioned in the middle rear in between the taillights.
From the side, the Chery Tiggo 9L features wide wheel eyebrows, side steps, roof racks, and runs on 20-inch multi-spoke aluminum alloy rims. The onboard Falcon 700 advanced driving assistance system will receive inputs from the roof-mounted lidar and front fender cameras. For reference, the Falcon system is divided into three tiers: Falcon 500, 700, and 900. The 500 and 700 support varying level 2 capabilities while the 900 can realize level 3 capabilities, according to Chery.
Additionally, the vehicle dimensions have not been revealed, but it is expected to be positioned higher than the Chery Tiggo 9. Both 6-seat and 7-seat layouts will be offered.
Power will come from Chery’s Kunpeng Super Performance Hybrid CDM-S system consists of three electric motors. The CDC (continuous damping control) variable damping shock absorbers will be present and tank turn will be supported.
The Kunpeng system is separated into the “high energy-saving” CDM/CEM, “high-performance” CDM-S/CEM-S, and “strong off-road” CDM-O/CEM-O. The CDM/CEM will be installed on models such as the Fulwin A8, T8, T9, and Shanhai L6, L7, and L9. The CDM-S/CEM-S will be applied to models such as the Yaoguang CDM, VX CDM, Fulwin T10, and A9. The CDM-O/CEM-O will be installed on models such as the Shanhai T2 and Zongheng G700.
Coming to the interior, Chery claimed it will be powered by an “AI smart cockpit” system with a built-in 3nm chip. Three screens can be seen on the dashboard, including an embedded instrument panel, a central control screen, and a co-pilot entertainment screen. Hardcore elements such as grab handles are present in front of the driver and co-pilot seats.
At this time, the market entry date and price range info have not been announced officially.
