Dongfeng Warrior‘s new intelligent flagship off-roader, the Warrior M817, has recently appeared on the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s (MIIT) list of vehicle production enterprises and product announcements. The announcement information and official images reveal some highlights in terms of body size, power performance, and optional accessories from the original factory.
In terms of dimensions, the Warrior M817 showcases a wheelbase of over 3 meters (3005mm). The vehicle’s length, width, and height are 5100mm x 1998mm x 1899/1919mm (the 1899mm height corresponds to the coil spring version, while 1919mm is for the air spring version). It boasts an approach angle of 30° and a departure angle of 30°/25°. These dimensions translate to a more spacious interior and enhanced off-road capabilities compared to mainstream mid-to-large SUVs currently on the market.
Under the hood, the Warrior M817 has an intelligent multi-mode PHEV plug-in hybrid system with a combined power output exceeding 700 horsepower. It features a “Plateau Power Star” engine certified by the China Automotive Engineering Research Institute, ensuring robust performance even at high altitudes. The Warrior PHEV system intelligently adapts to different driving scenarios, offering an all-electric mode for zero-emission urban commuting, a low-speed range-extending mode for improved fuel efficiency, and a hybrid mode for maximum power during acceleration and off-road adventures.
Furthermore, the Warrior M817 boasts a rich original factory modification ecosystem. Dongfeng Warrior offers a customised service and has launched the “Warrior Off-Road Ecological Customisation Platform.” The M817 provides various original factory modification options, such as top cover trim, headlights, and electric side steps. It also has towing qualifications and offers an optional trailer hitch. The air spring version features rear-wheel steering, 150mm adjustable air suspension with CDC (Continuous Damping Control), and a garage mode that lowers the chassis by 45mm for easier access to underground parking.
The M817 is one of the first luxury electric off-road vehicles equipped with Huawei’s Qiankun ADS 4.0 intelligent driving system. The vehicle has a rugged exterior design and is available in city and off-road versions. The off-road variant features nitrogen shock absorbers, anti-detachment rims, and AT tires for enhanced performance in challenging terrain.
The full range of colours and interior designs for the Warrior M817 will be officially unveiled at the 29th Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Auto Show, which will open on May 31, 2025.
