Interior of the Fang Cheng Bao Tai 7 SUV from BYD exposed – five seats and a new design

The interior of the Fang Cheng Bao Tai 7 new energy SUV from BYD was exposed in spy shots in China. The new model’s cabin adopts five seats, an orange color, and some new design elements. The Tai 7 will enter the Chinese market this year as a family-oriented off-roader.

The Fang Cheng Bao (FCB) is an off-road brand launched by BYD in 2023. Its model line comprises two series. The first one consists of hardcore off-roaders with PHEV powertrains: the Bao 5 (Leopard 5) and the Bao 8 (Leopard 8). The second series, called “Tai”, is oriented toward families. So far, FCB has launched a single model under the Tai series. It is the Tai 3 electric SUV. This year, the company will kick off sales of the Tai 7 SUV. Its interior was seen in China.

FCB Tai 7 interior

The FCB Tai 7 interior was exposed in spy shots. Despite being a large SUV, the new model offers two rows with five seats. The second row of the Tai 7 can be split folded (6:4). The Tai 7 has a power outlet in the trunk, a swing-out tailgate, and a large sunroof. It is worth mentioning that this family-friendly SUV has small windows behind the C-pillars. However, the Tai 7 still has sizeable blind spots.

The center console of the FCB’s newest model adopts a large floating screen typical for models under the BYD umbrella. In contrast with other Fang Cheng Bao cars, the Tai 7’s gear shifter sits behind the steering wheel. Other FCB models use a large, sturdy shifter located in the center tunnel. The FCB Tai 7 adopts a D-shaped steering wheel with four spokes.

The car’s cabin is finished in orange. The second-row passengers of the Tai 7 got two independent airflows. It is worth mentioning that the spotted car undergoes road tests in China. The design of the mass-produced model could be different.

More about FCB Tai 7

The FCB Tai 7 was previously seen in China during road tests. On June 7, BYD shared an official teaser image of this SUV, hinting at an upcoming release. The FCB Tai 7 is a sizeable vehicle with sturdy styling. Its specs remain secret.

CarNewsChina expects this vehicle to be a PHEV since it has fuel door / charging port covers on both rear fenders. However, some BYD cars support dual-connector charging. So, there is a slight chance the Tai 7 SUV is all-electric.

There are two points of view on the Tai 7’s pricing. The first group of experts believes this family SUV will cost 300,000 – 350,000 yuan (41,730 – 48,680 USD). Their opponents reckon that the Tai 7 will start below 200,000 yuan (27,820 USD). We will know which of these opposite points of view is correct after the FCB Tai 7 makes its official debut in China.
