Xiaomi acquired an industrial land in Beijing’s Yizhuang New Town for approximately 635 million yuan (approx. 87.5 million USD), according to disclosures from the Beijing Municipal Planning and Natural Resources Commission. The land was secured by Xiaomi Jingxi Technology Co., Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Xiaomi Smart Technology.

The site in the YZ00-0606 block covers 485,100 square meters and is designated for industrial use over a 50-year lease. Classified under the “six connections and one levelling” infrastructure standard, the land is intended to construct a facility focused on manufacturing new energy vehicles (NEVs) and related components. Observers have speculated that this may represent the third phase of Xiaomi’s vehicle production efforts, following earlier developments related to the Xiaomi SU7 electric sedan.

Separately, Xiaomi’s automotive business unit has expanded its operations by creating a new company in Shanghai. Xiaomi has established the Shanghai subsidiary with a registered capital of 1 million yuan (approx. 137,000 USD). The company is led by legal representative Wang Zhensuo.

According to registration details, the new company’s business scope includes the sale of NEVs and conventional vehicles, second-hand vehicle brokerage, and rental services for micro-passenger cars. It also lists food sales, commercial agency services, sales of transportation-related signage, and charging equipment among its approved business activities. These services may reflect expanding business coverage in vehicle sales and associated support infrastructure.

The company is wholly owned by Xiaomi, which indicates the continuity of Xiaomi’s approach to developing related automotive and service-oriented ventures. Xiaomi’s new entity formation follows earlier steps to expand its presence in automotive-related sectors beyond manufacturing.

Xiaomi’s recent developments in Beijing and Shanghai reflect the ongoing activity of the NEV and smart mobility sectors. As part of its automotive strategy in China, the company continues to engage in both production-oriented projects and service-related business areas.

Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun announced on Weibo that the company’s next vehicle, the Xiaomi YU7, will be officially unveiled at the end of June. Mass production preparations are reportedly underway, with deliveries expected to begin in July.
