Over 500 units of Xiaomi YU7 reportedly rolled off production line – assembled at the F1 factory
Over 500 units of the Xiaomi YU7 crossover reportedly rolled off the production line in China ahead of the launch ceremony scheduled for June 26. These are display cars, not intended to be sold. The Xiaomi YU7 is being assembled at the brand’s F1 (phase 1) factory while the F2 (phase 2) plant has yet to be put into operation. It affects the Xiaomi SU7 sedan delivery waiting time.
The Xiaomi YU7 electric SUV was officially released in China on May 22, becoming available for orders. This highly anticipated car reached dealers across large (Tier-1) Chinese cities in the same month for static display purposes. Later, Xiaomi Auto CEO Lei Jun announced that the YU7’s launch ceremony is scheduled for June 26. On June 25, the Chinese outlet National Business Daily (NBD) reported some details about the YU7 manufacturing.
Xiaomi YU7 production
Previously, photos of the first batch of Xiaomi YU7 crossovers became viral on social media. Car enthusiasts suggested that thousands of Xiaomi-branded crossovers were produced in China as the automaker readies for deliveries. On June 25, NBD shared more in-depth information about the Xiaomi YU7 manufacturing process.

According to the report, Xiaomi aimed to deliver 500 exhibition cars to showrooms across China before June 26. The source found out that the YU7 crossover is currently being assembled at the Xiaomi F1 plant, which also assembles the SU7 sedan and the SU7 Ultra sports car. A staff member in the factory told reporters that the number of Xiaomi YU7 crossovers that come off the line is different every day. The major goal now is to send cars to showrooms across the country.

It was confirmed that the first batches of Xiaomi YU7 were manufactured at the Xiaomi F1 factory. The dedicated to YU7 assembly process F2 factory is said to be put into operation soon. NBD confirmed that the Xiaomi logo was already installed in the territory of the F2 plant. The equipment supplier shared with reporters that the debugging of the production line here was completed. However, it isn’t clear when the factory will start manufacturing. It is worth mentioning that Xiaomi Auto has only one plant in China. F1 and F2 names refer to phases of this production facility.
Previously, Lei Jun shared that the YU7 SUV shares only 10% parts with the SU7 sedan. Therefore, it is difficult for the automaker to produce such different models at the same plant. CarNewsChina assumes that the manufacturing of the YU7 crossover led to a further increase in the SU7 sedan delivery time. According to the Xiaomi App, the delivery waiting time for the SU7 Pro electric sedan lies in the 49 – 52 week range. In early June, the waiting time was 47 – 50 weeks.

In March 2024, Xiaomi Group’s public relations general manager Wang Hua promised to increase the brand’s production capacity to achieve the 300,000 units delivery target. Later, the sales goal of the Xiaomi Automobile was changed to 480,000 cars. According to China EV DataTracker, Xiaomi Auto sold 132,467 units in the first five months of 2025.
