BYD will officially launch its Sealion 06 EV and DM-i on July 24 in China. The previously announced price range was 160,000 – 200,000 yuan (22,290 – 27,860 USD) at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show. The EV variant is built based on BYD’s e-Platform 3.0 Evo; the PHEV variant adopts BYD’s 5th-generation DM technology.

For the exterior, both variants use the latest design language from BYD’s Ocean series, featuring a closed front face with parallel headlights and double grilles at the bottom, wavy taillight group, and semi-hidden door handle designs. The entire series is expected to be equipped with the “God’s Eye” C (DiPilot 100) advanced driving assistance system, which currently only supports high-speed NOA.

Positioned as a mid-size SUV, the dimensions of the BYD Sealion 06 are 4810/1920/1675 mm, with a 2820 mm wheelbase, and runs on 235/50R19 tires. The curb weight is 1,890 kg.

In terms of power, the plug-in hybrid variant is equipped with a 1.5L engine (model BYD472QC) that outputs a maximum power of 74 kW (99 hp), an electric motor (model TZ210XYC) that outputs a maximum power of 160 kW (215 hp), matched with BYD’s 18.3 kWh or 26.6 kWh Blade battery pack, providing a corresponding pure electric range of 93 km and 130 km, respectively.

The all-electric variant includes two single-motor and one dual-motor versions:

  • single-motor: 180 kW (241 hp) or 170 kW (228 hp) electric motor, 65.28 kWh or 78.72 kWh Blade battery pack, 520 or 605 km cruising ranges
  • dual-motor: front 110 kW (148 hp) & rear 180 kW electric motors, 65.28 kWh or 78.72 kWh Blade battery pack, 520/550/605 km cruising ranges

The cockpit adopts a T-shaped layout and comes with a large floating central control screen, a rectangular instrument panel, and a four-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel.

The center console has two cupholders, a rotary knob to control the temperature of the refrigerator, and wireless charging pads. The refrigerator can store about four bottles. Furthermore, the standard front trunk volume is 142 L in addition to the rear trunk volume of 757 L, and can be expanded to 1630 L after the second row is folded down.
