Great Wall Motor’s electric vehicle brand, Ora, has officially unveiled its new model, the Ora 5, in China. Positioned as a compact all-electric SUV, the vehicle is the brand’s first mass-production SUV and introduces a fresh design direction alongside advanced driver assistance technology.

The Ora 5 continues the recognisable styling of Ora’s “cat family” models, adopting a closed front fascia with large round headlights and sharper front-end angles compared with the Ora Good Cat. The front bumper integrates larger ventilation openings and side air ducts. The model will be offered in six exterior colour options, each inspired by notable geographic landmarks, including Aurora Green, Senna Grey, Lake Sayram Blue, Cliff White, Sand Dune Beige, and Linzhi Red.

In terms of proportions, the Ora 5 measures 4,471 mm in length, 1,833 mm (or 1,844 mm) in width, and 1,641 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,720 mm. These dimensions exceed those of the Good Cat. The vehicle comes equipped with 18-inch dual-tone semi-enclosed wheels paired with PRINX tyres (225/60 R18). At the rear, it features a minimalist design, characterised by a horizontal taillight cluster, a spoiler, and nameplates displaying “GWM,” “ORA 5,” and “Great Wall Motor.”

The vehicle features lidar mounted on the roof, supported by front, side, and rear cameras, enabling advanced assisted driving features. It is expected to utilise GWM’s third-generation Coffee Pilot Ultra system, which supports functions such as urban NOA (Navigation on Autopilot) and highway NOA.

Inside, the Ora 5 features a new cabin design with large textile fabric panels on the dashboard and doors. Three interior colour themes will be available: Dawn White, Noon Brown, and Midnight Grey. The car is fitted with a floating full LCD instrument display, a large central screen running the third-generation Coffee OS system, and integrated Coffee GPT with DeepSeek access.

Additional equipment includes a two-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel, a column-mounted shifter, a wireless phone charging panel, cup holders, and multiple storage compartments. The model also offers a 1.65-square-meter panoramic glass roof, a 64-colour ambient lighting system, and foldable rear seats that expand cargo space.

For performance, the Ora 5 is powered by an electric motor with a maximum output of 150 kW, paired with a lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery pack supplied by SVOLT. While detailed battery capacity and driving range figures have not yet been disclosed, Ora’s Lightning Cat sedan, which features a similar motor, offers battery options of 63.87 kWh and 83.49 kWh, with CLTC ranges of 555 km and 705 km, respectively.

As Ora’s first all-new model in several years and its first production SUV, the Ora 5 is expected to compete in China’s growing compact electric SUV market. Key rivals include the BYD Yuan Plus, priced from 115,800 to 147,800 yuan (16,300–20,800 USD), and the Geely Galaxy E5, priced from 107,800 to 179,800 yuan (15,200–25,300 USD). Ora 5’s official pricing is expected to be announced at its official launch.
