According to Tank SUV’s official announcement, the 2026 Tank 400 plug-in hybrid SUV has begun arriving at display vehicles in 178 cities nationwide. The updated model features exterior detail adjustments, a new “Dunhuang Purple” colour option, and, most notably, a roof-mounted lidar system paired with GWM’s third-generation Coffee Pilot Ultra advanced driving assistance system. The Tank 400 lineup also adds a new Hi4-Z powertrain variant.

The updated Tank 400 maintains its rugged, mechanical styling but has undergone detailed changes. A new “Dunhuang Purple” paint option has been added, and the front bumper has been redesigned with black mesh accents to enhance its bold appearance. At the rear, the external spare tyre guard has been removed, and the badge arrangement now places “GWM” at the centre.

Dimensions are 4964/1970/1905 mm (length/width/height), with a wheelbase of 2850 mm. Compared with the current model, the new Tank 400 is 21 mm shorter, 10 mm wider, and 5 mm taller.

A roof-mounted lidar, along with side and rear cameras, has been added to support Coffee Pilot Ultra. The system offers features such as city and highway navigation on autopilot (NOA). Blue indicator lights in the taillights signal when the system is active.

Inside, the cabin design follows the outgoing model. It features a 12.3-inch full LCD instrument panel and a 16.2-inch floating central touchscreen, both running GWM’s latest infotainment system. A column-mounted gear selector replaces the previous design. Available equipment includes wireless smartphone charging, a head-up display, a digital rearview mirror, a 15.6-inch rear ceiling screen, and an onboard refrigerator.

The Tank 400 now offers two plug-in hybrid systems:

  • Hi4-Z: Combines a 2.0T engine (185 kW, 380 Nm) with dual electric motors (215 kW and 240 kW). It is paired with a 59.05 kWh ternary lithium battery, enabling a CLTC-rated pure electric range of 200 km.
  • Hi4-T: Uses a 2.0T engine (185 kW) and a single electric motor (120 kW), together with a 37.1 kWh battery pack. This configuration provides a CLTC pure electric range of 105 km and a fuel consumption rating of 8.4 L/100 km.
