The Avatr 06 electric sedan from Changan, Huawei, and CATL caught fire in China, resulting in the ignition of seven surrounding cars. This vehicle was reportedly purchased new in late August 2025, accumulating over 1,000 km of mileage in a month and a half. CarNewsChina gathered the first details of this incident.

On late October 5, The Sanxiang Daily reported that the Avatr 06 electric sedan ignited in the parking in Dongbi Village, Ningde City, Fujian Province. Photos show the car in huge plumes of fire. This ignition damaged seven surrounding cars, including Audi, BMW, Mazda, and Aion. No casualties were reported.

More about the Avatr 06 ignition

The Sanxiang Daily reported that an owner of the burnt Avatr 06 made a comment on the incident. She shared that she bought this vehicle on August 28, 2025. After a month and a half, her mileage reached just 1,066 km. According to an owner, the Avatr App indicated that the temperature inside the car reached 76.4 degrees Celsius before the fire. The smoke first emanated from the front passenger seat.

The Avatr 06’s owner mentioned that the manufacturer had contacted her and would handle the matter appropriately. At press time, Avatr, Changan, and CATL didn’t make any official announcements on this issue. However, it appeared that the owner of the burnt car had placed a lot of accessories on the car’s center console. A car blogger, Yu Dianke, assumed that they might have resulted in concentrating light on the passenger seat, resulting in fire. Another possible reason for this ignition is a perfume explosion.

The Avatr 06 and other cars after the fire

The Avatr 06 entered the Chinese market on April 19, 2025. This incident is its first case of fire. We will remind you that the all-electric Avatr 06 sedan adopts a CATL-made Shenxing LFP battery for 72.88 kWh. It boasts a high-voltage 800V system and expanded overcurrent protection. The Avatr 06 EREV adopts a Freevoy LFP battery with two capacity variants: 31.7 kWh and 45.06 kWh. At the moment, there is no evidence that the car’s battery caused the fire.
