The longest range Tesla Model Y variant revealed in China, over 800 km CLTC
Tesla will soon add the Long Range RWD variant of the Model Y to its lineup in China, a regulator revealed today. It will feature a ternary NMC battery from LG and a single 225 kW (302 hp) motor on the rear axle.
Tesla did a similar move with the Model 3 sedan in August, when it added a variant equipped with an LG ternary battery and a single rear-wheel-drive motor. As a result, the range of this Long Range Model 3 variant jumped to 830 km under CLTC conditions. Regarding this, CaNewsChina expect the new RWD Long Range Model Y will have a range of over 800 km CLTC.

The regulator under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has revealed pictures of the new Model Y variant, as well as its core specifications. The badge on the rear displays “Model Y+”, however, that won’t be the final name. Automakers often use various names or codenames during MIIT homologation to confuse the audience, as it is not an official release. Automakers are not happy about their secrets being leaked before the marketing department says so. We don’t mind
The dimensions are 4797 mm x 1920 mm x 1624 mm, and the wheelbase is 2890 mm, the same as the current Model Y. The curb weight is 1,891 kg.
Tesla currently sells two options of Model Y in China: the entry-level Rear-Wheel Drive variant and the All-Wheel Drive Long Range Variant. The new RWD Long Range will be positioned right between them. There is also the Model Y L, a three-row, six-seater variant of the Model Y.
The entry-level RWD Model Y is equipped with a single motor, a CATL battery, and a 593 km CLTC range. The price is 263,500 yuan (37,000 USD).
The AWD Long Range variant of the Model Y features dual motors with a 331 kW output and an LG battery, providing a 750 km CLTC range. The price is 313,500 yuan (44,000 USD).
The new Model Y Long Range RWD variant will be priced between those two variants and offer a range of over 800 km CLTC. This range is equivalent to 656 km WLTP or 562 km (349 miles) EPA.
