BAIC‘s Arcfox officially launched its new Alpha T5, introducing an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variant alongside updated battery-electric vehicle (BEV) models. The new lineup, comprising seven trims, is available with an official guide price ranging from 113,800 to 158,800 yuan (16,000 to 22,200 USD).
A new addition to the Alpha T5 family is the EREV model, which features a 1.5-litre BAIC Shenqing extended-range power system. This powertrain delivers a pure electric range of 215 kilometres under CLTC conditions. Meanwhile, the BEV models receive upgrades in both configuration and power, with the top-tier variant now boasting a maximum range of 705 kilometres (CLTC).
During the launch event, BAIC New Energy also debuted its groundbreaking “Yuanjing Intelligent Driving” and “Yuanjing Intelligent Cabin” systems, designed for advanced driver-assistance and intelligent cockpit functionalities. Yuanjing Intelligent Driving is offered in three tiers – Pro, Max, and Ultra – corresponding to L2 (128-256 TOPS), L2 expandable to L3 (400-600 TOPS), and L4 (1000 TOPS) autonomous driving capabilities, respectively. The Yuanjing Intelligent Cabin, built on a central large model and multiple vertical domain intelligent agents, can recognise user voice commands and emotions.

Visually, the new Alpha T5 features a closed-off front grille complemented by distinctive triangular headlamp clusters, which integrate LED daytime running lights. The front bumper incorporates a three-part opening design, with air ducts on both sides and prominent character lines on the hood.

From the side, the Alpha T5 showcases an upward-sweeping waistline that integrates with flush door handles. The vehicle’s dimensions are 4760mm in length, 1936mm in width, and 1650mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2845mm. All models come standard with 19-inch wheels. The rear design features a full-width taillight design and a large diffuser.

Inside, the Alpha T5 is centred around a 15.6-inch central control screen and a 22.8-inch HUD head-up display. These displays support mobile connectivity options such as CarPlay and Hicar. Comfort and convenience features include 50W wireless fast charging for front-row phones, heated, ventilated, and massage functions for the front seats, and an 18-speaker audio system.

All new Alpha T5 models come standard with L2-level driver-assistance functions. High-end trims are equipped with the Qualcomm 8775 integrated cockpit and driving chip, enabling advanced features like urban/highway NOA (Navigate on Autopilot) and all-scenario intelligent parking assist.

In terms of powertrain, the BEV models are equipped with a single electric motor, offering maximum power outputs of 185 kW (248 hp) and 200 kW (268 hp), and peak torques of 320 N·m and 360 N·m, respectively. Battery capacities are available in 64.8 kWh, 74.4 kWh, and 79.2 kWh, providing CLTC ranges of 560km, 660km, and 705km.
The EREV model features a 1.5-litre extended-range power system, with the range extender delivering a maximum power of 77 kW and the electric motor providing 200 kW (268 hp) of maximum power and 365 N·m of maximum torque. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds, offers a pure electric range of 215 kilometres, and boasts a combined range of 1215 kilometres.
