Mercedes-Benz S600L Grand Edition Designo hits the Chinese car market

Mercedes-Benz is offering a new car for those who think a S600L to cheap and a Maybach too ugly. This is the Mercedes-Benz S600L ‘Grand Edition Designo’, a special edition based on the S600L fitted with a bit more luxury and a custom-made interior. It is a limited edition again but Benz doesn’t say how many they will make.

Special thingies: interior is clad in Nappa leather, a BANG & OLUFSEN sound system, and a 18K gold ‘Designo’ logo on the back of the armrest. Buyers can choose two special colors, Rock Solid, like the car on pics, and Running Silk. Engine-wise no changes. Price for all this pretty: 2.988 million yuan, or 474.000 USD.

Leather loox very fine, and for that 2.988 you expect your 18k logo to look really fine as well. You don’t expect it to look like some crappy glued-on plastic badge. Still, that is what it does:
