Geely Holding Group and Geely Automobile Holdings (collectively “Geely”) and Renault Group signed a final agreement establishing a strategic partnership in Brazil, according to CLS. Under the agreement, Geely acquired a 26.4% stake in Renault Brazil, while Renault Group remains the controlling shareholder and continues to consolidate Renault Brazil in its financial statements.

As a minority shareholder, Geely gains access to Renault Brazil’s factory capacity and market network. The Ayrton Senna industrial park in southern Brazil will produce both Renault and Geely models, thereby increasing utilisation rates and enhancing the facility’s competitiveness. Geely’s electric SUV, the EX5, is now being sold across Brazil through Renault-branded dealer outlets.

The partnership enables Renault to leverage Geely’s new energy vehicle (NEV) technology, expanding its zero- and low-emission vehicle lineup for the Brazilian market. Renault Brazil will also serve as a distributor for Geely’s NEV models, opening new opportunities in sales, finance, and after-sales services.

Geely and Renault have previously collaborated globally, including joint investment in Renault Korea and the establishment of Horse Powertrain for powertrain development. This Brazil partnership represents the next stage of their strategic cooperation, focusing on cross-continental industrial and commercial synergies.

Renault Group CEO François Provost stated that the collaboration “marks a decisive step in our international strategy” and praised the agreement’s flexible and efficient cooperation structure, which he said enhances competitiveness and innovation in a rapidly changing market. Geely Holding Group Chairman Li Shufu described the partnership as a further milestone following the Geely-Renault Korea joint venture and the global powertrain integration project, noting that it aims to optimise products, costs, and services while exploring new markets and opportunities.

In October 2025, Geely reported domestic passenger car sales of 307,133 units, representing a 35% year-over-year increase and marking a new monthly record. Cumulative sales for the first ten months reached 2.477 million units, a 44% increase year-over-year, with the annual target already 83% achieved. Geely’s overseas sales totalled 41,568 units in October, a 23% increase, with 33% of exports being NEV models. Geely currently operates five overseas plants and 891 sales and service outlets in 81 countries, with electric models based on the Galaxy E5 platform available in multiple international markets.
