GWM’s Haval brand will launch its H6L mid-size SUV on November 18, 2025. The model was previously registered under the name Xiaolong Max petrol version and represents a step up in size from the current Haval H6, which is classified as a compact SUV. The H6L offers two petrol engine options: a 1.5-litre turbocharged unit producing 135 kW and a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine delivering 175 kW. The 2.0-litre version is paired exclusively with a nine-speed wet dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Externally, the H6L closely follows the Xiaolong Max design, incorporating subtle changes. The front fascia features an updated grille with a license plate frame integrated into the air intake, while the bumper’s air deflectors have been removed.

The side profile abandons the previously used floating D-pillar in favour of a traditional layout with conventional door handles. The SUV measures 4,800 mm in length, 1,895 mm in width, and 1,730 mm in height, with a 2,810 mm wheelbase. At the rear, the “GWM” badge replaces the former “HAVAL” lettering, forming a new focal point for the tail design.

The interior of the H6L offers two central colour schemes in Chinese specifications, black-brown and beige-brown, and three options in other reports, including Autumn Brown-Beige, Exploration Black, and Canyon Brown. The cabin is equipped with a 14.6-inch central touchscreen running Coffee OS 3, a head-up display, 64-colour ambient lighting, and a 5.1-channel sound system.

Seats are available with heating, ventilation, and massage functions, while the steering wheel is heated. Rear seatbacks can recline for additional comfort, and double-layer laminated glass is used for sound insulation.

Practical dimensions provide generous interior space. A person of 178 cm height can sit in the rear without discomfort, with more than two fists of legroom and over one fist of headroom. The large panoramic sunroof enhances the sense of openness. Safety features include a body structure composed of 82 per cent high-strength steel and six airbags as standard.

The H6L adheres to the “H” series naming strategy, with the “L” designation denoting a larger body compared to the standard H6, thereby positioning it as a mid-size SUV in the market. Industry sources expect the SUV to be priced between 100,000 and 150,000 yuan (approximately 13,800 to 20,700 USD).

This model is expected to compete in the mid-size SUV segment, complementing the existing H6 rather than replacing it, and offering buyers a combination of increased space, enhanced interior features, and a choice of two petrol engines.
