Zhengzhou Nissan today officially launched its Frontier Pro series pickup truck, with prices ranging from 169,900 yuan (23,800 USD) to 249,900 yuan (35,000 USD), The recommended price range for the Frontier Pro is 169,900 to 196,900 yuan (23,800 to 27,600 USD), the recommended price range for the Frontier Pro PHEV is 189,900 to 249,900 yuan (26,600 to 35,000 USD).

This new generation Frontier Pro marks a milestone for Nissan, being the first product from the brand to be entirely designed, developed, and produced in China, with plans for global sales.

The Frontier Pro series presents distinct design philosophies for its fuel and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) variants. The traditional fuel-powered models retain Nissan’s classic V-Motion design language, offering a familiar yet refreshed aesthetic. In contrast, the PHEV version embraces a more electrified and technologically advanced look, aligning with modern EV trends.

In terms of dimensions, the Frontier Pro boasts a commanding presence, measuring 5520mm in length, 1960mm in width, and 1950mm in height, with a substantial wheelbase of 3300mm. The cargo bed offers generous space, with dimensions of 1520mm (length) x 1600mm (width) x 490mm (depth). The rear design is clean and robust, with select models featuring an electric soft-down tailgate.

Inside, the Frontier Pro keeps pace with contemporary demands, featuring a digital instrument cluster and a large central control screen. A row of physical buttons is retained on the centre console. The cabin experience is further elevated by a 12-speaker JLA brand audio system and extensive soft-touch materials.

Under the hood, the Frontier Pro offers diverse powertrain options. Fuel models are available with either a 2.0T gasoline engine, delivering 258 hp and 400 Nm of peak torque, or a 2.3T diesel engine, producing 190 hp and 500 Nm of peak torque. Both are paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The PHEV variant combines a 1.5T engine with a front-mounted single electric motor, achieving a robust combined system power of 320 kW (429 hp) and 800 Nm of combined torque. This is mated to a 4-speed DHT transmission, offering a pure electric range of 135 km under CLTC conditions.

Zhengzhou Nissan is Nissan’s first joint venture for complete vehicle manufacturing in China and Nissan’s LCV R&D centre.
