Details of the Nissan NX8, which will be offered in both range-extended electric vehicle (REV) and pure electric vehicle (EV) variants, emerged from the latest Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) filing.

The NX8 is the first model under Dongfeng Nissan‘s “Tianyan” architecture to debut with an 800V high-voltage platform and advanced CATL 5C ultra-fast charging technology. This makes it the first overseas brand NEV SUV to integrate such high-speed charging capabilities.

The range-extended NX8 will feature a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine acting as a generator, producing 109 kilowatts, paired with an electric motor delivering a peak power of 195 kilowatts. This variant will offer pure electric driving ranges of 102 kilometres and 185 kilometres, depending on the configuration, supported by battery packs of 20.3 kWh, 21.1 kWh, or 37.4 kWh.

The NX8 measures 4870 mm in length, 1920 mm in width, and 1680 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2917 mm. Its curb weight ranges from 2196 to 2245 kilograms, with a total vehicle mass of 2660 kilograms and a reported top speed of 180 km/h.

The NX8 evolves Nissan’s V-motion design language. The front fascia is dominated by a 2.4-meter full-width “star ring” light, complemented by a flat illuminated logo and matrix-style headlamps. The vehicle’s side profile features an integrated design with concealed door handles, hidden water channels, and low panel gaps. The rear is distinguished by a quantum OLED taillight panel, composed of 2064 individual units, which supports customizable lighting patterns for enhanced recognition. Customers will have a choice of 19-inch or 20-inch wheel options.

Equipped with integrated lidar technology, the NX8 will offer advanced intelligent driving functions, including high-speed navigation assistance (NOA), urban navigation assistance (NOA), and full-scenario intelligent parking.

The NX8 follows Dongfeng Nissan’s recent introductions of the N7, a fully electric mid-size sedan, and the N6, a plug-in hybrid mid-size sedan, earlier in 2025. These models, built on localized platforms and incorporating domestic electrification systems and intelligent software, underscore Nissan’s strategy to localize and innovate within the Chinese market. While specific launch timelines and market pricing for the NX8 have not yet been announced, its advanced features and strategic positioning suggest a strong potential for both domestic sales and future export to markets such as Southeast Asia and the Middle East.
