Geely Galaxy A7 long‑range with larger battery and 175 km electric range filed in China
Geely’s Galaxy A7 long‑range plug‑in hybrid variant has been filed with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, indicating the addition of a larger battery and a CLTC pure‑electric range of 175 kilometers. The filing follows the August 2025 launch of the standard Galaxy A7 PHEV in China, which is based on the Geely Electric Architecture and is priced between 89,800 yuan and 125,800 yuan (about 12,300 USD to 17,190 USD).
The Galaxy A7 long‑range retains the exterior design of the 2025-launched PHEV model. It features a closed front fascia with full‑width daytime running lights, a fastback‑style silhouette, and a hidden rear exhaust layout, reflecting the Galaxy sub‑brand’s design language. The standard Galaxy A7 measures 4,918 millimeters long, 1,905 millimeters wide, and 1,495 millimeters tall, with a wheelbase of 2,845 millimeters.
The larger battery in the long‑range version is a 28.3 kWh unit using lithium iron phosphate chemistry, compared with the 8.5 kWh and 18.4 kWh batteries in the standard Galaxy A7 lineup. The increased battery capacity boosts the certified pure‑electric range to 175 kilometers under China’s CLTC cycle. The filing does not include final pricing or official launch timing.
The increased battery capacity raises the vehicle’s curb weight to 1,775 kilograms, compared with 1,599 kilograms for the base 70 km EV range version and 1,735 kilograms for the 150 km EV range version of the 2025‑model Galaxy A7. The dimensions otherwise remain unchanged.
The Galaxy A7 long‑range continues to use a 1.5‑liter plug‑in hybrid powertrain with a maximum engine output of 82 kW. The filing does not provide detailed specifications for the electric motor, but the standard Galaxy A7’s motor produces up to 175 kW.
The Galaxy A7 PHEV, launched in China in August 2025, is based on Geely’s GEA new-energy platform and is equipped with Geely’s EM AI Super Hybrid 2.0 system. That version’s fuel consumption under the CLTC cycle is listed at 2.67 L/100 km for the 70 km EV range variants and 2.8 L/100 km for the 150 km EV range variants. The larger battery variant of the standard model supports DC fast charging, which can recharge from 30 percent to 80 percent in about 18 minutes.
The standard Galaxy A7 PHEV’s launch price range placed it in direct competition with other mid‑size plug‑in hybrids, such as the BYD Qin L DM‑i. The filing of the long‑range version suggests Geely plans to extend the Galaxy A7’s electric capability within the segment, though official market launch details are not yet public.
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology filing is an early regulatory step ahead of the long‑range Galaxy A7’s commercial launch in China.
