The Xpeng GX full-size flagship EREV crossover broke cover in China as the Aito M9 rival. Xpeng positions its latest model as a luxury car. The exterior styling of the GX has strong Range Rover vibes.

The Xpeng GX was previously known by its codename G01. We previously covered this model’s spy shots. According to previous reports, the Xpeng GX will adopt the “Xpeng Kunpeng Super Electric System.” It is the official name of the Xpeng-developed EREV powertrain. Its core features include a 5C battery charging technology and over 1,000 km of mixed range.

On February 5, Xpeng suddenly revealed official images of the GX full-size crossover. Typically, Chinese automakers release official photos of new cars ahead of the publication of a catalog of cars undergoing domestic homologation by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). CarNewsChina expects the Xpeng GX to be featured in the catalog soon, revealing core specs.

Back to the official images, the Xpeng GX appeared to be a full-size crossover with a body length of over 5.2 meters. The car’s outline strongly resembles that of the Range Rover, particularly in its slanted A and B pillars. The GX adopts a large panoramic sunroof and a closed front end with two-storey lights.

From the back, the Xpeng GX has a split two-piece tailgate. This design element became widely spread among other Chinese full-size crossovers, including the Zeekr 9X and the Lynk & Co 900. And the Range Rover obviously has the same design element. There is a single taillight strip that crosses the upper part of the tailgate.

The Xpeng GX adopts retractable door handles. They will be banned in China, starting from January 1 next year. The car rides on chrome-plated multi-spoke rims. Notably, the GX has no LiDAR sensor on the roof as Xpeng leans towards a visually based assisted driving system, as they are easier to train with a large amount of information.

In one of the photos, we have a glimpse at the Xpeng GX’s interior. The car has an augmented reality head-up display that seems to replace a traditional instrument cluster. According to previous reports, the GX will adopt a six-seat layout.

As mentioned, the Chinese MIIT can expose the Xpeng GX’s core specs shortly. This car can also make a global debut at the Beijing Auto Show 2026, scheduled for late April. CarNewsChina expects this car to cost above 400,000 yuan (57,650 USD). It will rival such cars as the Li Auto L9, the Aito M9, the Zeekr 9X, and the Denza N9.
