The BYD Great Tang full-size SUV will launch in China in May with BEV and PHEV powertrain variants. Its all-electric modification will offer the flash charging technology and a range of up to 950 km. Other features of the Great Tang include rear-wheel steering and air suspension.
The BYD Great Tang (also known in China as BYD Datang) officially broke cover on March 5 as the brand’s flagship SUV. It is a mass-produced variant of the Dynasty-D concept car revealed at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show. Previously, both BEV and PHEV variants of this large family driver applied for a sales license in China, exposing core specs.

On April 3, General Manager of the BYD Dynasty network sales division, Lu Tian, shared on his Weibo account that the Great Tang SUV will start presales in April. At the same time, the official launch of this car is scheduled for May. The price of the Great Tang has yet to be revealed. It was previously reported that it will target the market segment above 400,000 yuan (58,090 USD).

However, CarNewsChina expects the BYD Great Tang to be priced below 300,000 yuan (43,570 USD) to avoid internal competition with the Denza N8L and the Denza N9. It seems that the Great Tang will become the direct rival of the Geely Galaxy M9 full-size plug-in hybrid crossover with a price range of 183,800 – 248,800 yuan (26,690 – 36,130 USD). According to China EV DataTracker, the Geely Galaxy M9 delivered 11,635 units from January to February in China.
