The new BYD Sealion 05 DM-i plug-in hybrid crossover piles up at dealers in China ahead of presales start. This SUV reportedly boasts a 34.275 kWh LFP battery for 305 km of EV range under CLTC conditions, a DiPilot 300 assisted driving system, and a starting price of 96,000 yuan (13,950 USD).
Yan Zhao Auto reported that the new BYD Sealion 05 DM-i started to pile up at dealers across China, getting ready for the presales start. These are display cars, not intended to be delivered to customers. Updated vehicles arrived at dealers adopting 18-inch rims, semi-hidden door handles, and various exterior & interior colors.

The new BYD Sealion 05 DM-i is a compact crossover with a smooth body shape, elongated headlights, and a single taillight unit. The PHEV version of this model boasts dimensions of 4620/1860/1630 mm with a wheelbase of 2,770 mm. For clarity, it is 100 mm longer than the BEV variant of the model.
The Sealion 05 DM-i adopts six body colors: Gray, Ocean White, Green, Sun White, Pink, and Orange. It adopts a sporty roof spoiler, a rear windshield wiper, and a minimalistic bumper. In the front, the car has an active air intake. Another feature is plastic trim around wheel arches and side skirts.
The car’s interior has an 8.8-inch LCD instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch floating touchscreen. Other highlights of the center console include adjustable air vents. The gear shifter sits behind a three-spoke steering wheel. The center tunnel of the new model has a 50W wireless phone charging pad, two cup holders, and a block of physical buttons.
The new BYD Sealion 05 DM-i boasts a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, and power front seats with heating and ventilation functions. The acoustic system adopts 8 speakers, an electrically powered trunk door, and a rear armrest with two cup holders.
Powertrain and prices
The BYD Sealion 05 DM-i adopts the fifth-generation DM technology with a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine for 74 kW (99 hp). It is paired with a synchronous permanent magnet electric motor for 120 kW (161 hp). Yan Zhao Auto reported that the new SUV will be available with two LFP battery variants for 26.628 and 34.275 kWh. The electric CLTC range lies between 220 and 305 km.
It is worth noting that the Sealion 05 DM-i was previously exposed by the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) with an 18.3 kWh battery for 102 km of WLTC range. However, the mentioned source shared that the car won’t be available with this pack. The new crossover adopts the DiSus-C continuous damping system and a DiPilot 300 LiDAR-based ADAS.
According to the dealer’s internal information, the new car will be available for presales with four trim levels. Their trims and specs are as follows.
