Zeekr has officially launched the 8X, a plug-in hybrid SUV built on its 900V “Haohan-S” architecture, as Geely Automobile Group CEO Gan Jiayue said the 8X and its sibling, the 9X, are being fast-tracked for global markets, with an overseas rollout expected as early as the third quarter, according to CLS.

The model enters the market with four variants and a limited-time pricing structure ranging from 329,800 yuan (45,800 USD) to 473,800 yuan (65,800 USD), Autohome reports.

The Zeekr 8X entered pre-sales in China at 376,800 yuan (54,609 USD), while the launch price under limited-time incentives drops to 329,800 yuan (45,806 USD), a reduction of 47,000 yuan (6,528 USD) from the initial pre-sales entry point.

Built on the Haohan-S 900V super hybrid architecture, the 8X combines a high-voltage electrical system with a 2.0T combustion engine and multi-motor electric drive. The top specification delivers up to 1030 kW (1,380 hp) and enables a claimed 0–100 km/h acceleration time of 2.96 seconds.

Exterior and dimensions

The Zeekr 8X continues the brand’s current design language, featuring a large upright front grille, a split headlight system, and an integrated lidar unit on the roofline for advanced driver assistance systems. The overall styling emphasises a tall, wide stance and relatively clean surfacing compared with traditional combustion SUVs

The vehicle measures 5100 mm in length, 1998 mm in width, and 1780 mm in height, with a 3069 mm wheelbase. This places it in the full-size SUV category, but it is slightly smaller than the Zeekr 9X flagship SUV.

Interior and equipment

Inside, the 8X offers a high-end configuration with multi-screen integration, including a large central display and rear entertainment options, depending on trim level. Higher variants include rear-seat aviation-style layouts with powered recline and extended leg support.

A notable feature is the emphasis on rear passenger experience, with configurable seating layouts and comfort-oriented amenities such as multi-zone climate control and integrated multimedia systems. Storage capacity reaches up to 2200 litres with seats folded, positioning the vehicle for both family and executive transport use cases.

Powertrain and performance

The 8X is equipped with a 2.0T plug-in hybrid system paired with dual- and tri-motor configurations. The tri-motor setup, available on the range-topping Yao Ying variant, produces up to 1030 kW and enables a 0–100 km/h time of 2.96 seconds, while dual-motor versions deliver up to 660 kW with a 0–100 km/h time of 3.7 seconds.

Energy storage is provided by a 70 kWh battery pack supporting 6C fast charging capability. Under optimal conditions, charging from 20% to 80% takes approximately 9 minutes. The CLTC electric range is up to 410 km, while the total range is up to 1,416 km, depending on configuration.

Driving systems and technology

The 8X integrates Zeekr’s latest digital chassis system with adaptive air suspension and active damping control. The system supports rapid torque distribution and variable ride-height adjustment. High-performance braking and stability systems are paired with the platform to support both urban and high-speed driving conditions.

Advanced driver assistance hardware includes multi-sensor fusion with LiDAR units and dual Nvidia Drive Thor-U processors delivering up to 1400 TOPS of computing power. The system supports highway navigation assistance and automated parking functions depending on configuration.

Zeekr 9X context and sales performance

The Zeekr 8X is positioned alongside its larger sibling, the Zeekr 9X, which was introduced earlier in the lineup and serves as a flagship SUV.

CarNewsChina data (China EV DataTracker) shows the Zeekr 9X recorded fluctuating domestic retail performance over its initial months, with sales rising from 686 units in September 2025 to 10,060 units in March 2026. Monthly growth showed strong volatility during early ramp-up, reflecting typical launch-cycle behaviour in China’s premium SUV segment.

The 9X has been described in earlier reporting as part of Zeekr’s strategy to attract buyers transitioning from high-end luxury SUVs into domestic premium electrified products, forming the upper structure of its SUV lineup.
