Zeekr 8X racks up 10,000 orders within 30 minutes, tri‑motor hybrid delivers 1,381 hp
The Zeekr 8X SUV received 10,000 orders within 30 minutes of its market launch, with company executives outlining pricing, product strategy, and overseas plans during a post-launch roundtable held after the April 17 launch event, according to Y-Auto.
During the discussion, Geely Automobile Group CEO Gan Jiayue said the 8X and its sibling, the 9X, are being fast-tracked for global markets, with an overseas rollout expected as early as the third quarter.
Orders and early demand
Company representatives stated that Ultra and higher trims accounted for 95.6% of total orders, while the average transaction price exceeded 400,000 yuan (58,331 USD).
Executives added that the Yaoying performance variant represented about 30% of early orders. More detailed breakdowns are expected to follow.
Pricing strategy and positioning
The Zeekr 8X is priced between 356,800 yuan and 426,800 yuan (51,999–62,207 USD), with limited-time pricing starting at 329,800 yuan (48,057 USD).
According to Zeekr executives, pricing was set using a market-based approach to reduce the need for short-term adjustments. The company said the strategy aligns product value, customer expectations, and competitive positioning in the premium SUV segment.
Product strategy and differentiation
Gan Jiayue described the 8X as a product built around performance, vehicle dynamics, and intelligent systems.
The 8X was first seen testing on public roads in China in November 2025, indicating late-stage validation ahead of launch.
The SUV is based on the Haohan-S hybrid architecture and features a tri-motor system producing up to 1030 kW. Executives said the system is designed to integrate high performance with hybrid efficiency.
The model also introduces a cockpit-driving integrated system that combines in-car interaction and assisted-driving functions into a unified platform.
Platform and development approach
According to Zeekr, the 8X shares its architecture and components with the larger 9X, enabling a faster production ramp-up and improved supply chain coordination.
Executives said the development approach focuses on full-vehicle integration across powertrain, chassis, and intelligent systems, rather than incremental upgrades.
Market and segment discussion
During the roundtable, executives highlighted the growing presence of large SUVs in the new energy segment, supported by improvements in intelligent driving systems and infrastructure.
They noted that increasing vehicle size raises technical requirements in areas such as chassis control, energy management, and assisted driving performance.
Data context
According to China EV DataTracker, Zeekr’s domestic deliveries reached 24,375 units in March 2026, up 72.7% year-on-year and 52.8% month-on-month. This follows 15,956 units in February (+13.7% YoY) and 19,135 units in January (+60.2% YoY), indicating a recovery trend after weaker volumes in mid-2025, when monthly sales remained near 15,000 units and often declined year-on-year.
