Volkswagen brought 3 new all-electric cars to the Shanghai World Expo; the Up! e-motion, the Lavida blue e-motion and the Golf blue e-motion.  The Up! e-motion is a concept, the Lavida blue e-motion will see production in China “soon” and production of the Golf blue e-motion will start in Germany in 2013. First up, the Up!

Power comes from a lithium-ion battery, max power is 60kw and 210nm. 0-100km/h takes 11.3 seconds, 30 to 50 only 3.5. Battery capacity is 18kWh, range is 130km. Weight is 1085kg, battery weight 240kg. High-pressure charging takes one hour for 80%. A normal 220/230V charge takes 5 hours.

The Lavida blue e-motion is developed by Shanghai-Volkswagen. The Lavida is a China-only mid-sized sedan. The electric engine has 85kw and 270nm. 0-100km/h takes 11 seconds, top speed is 130km/h.

Weight is 1498kg, 144kg more than the standard car. Lithium-ion battery weighs 315kg. Range is 150km. Charging with 220/230v takes 7 hours, with 380/400v 3.5 hours.

‘125km’ shows how much more km to go, ’70’ shows how many more minutes to go.

Golf blue e-motion has the same engine and battery as the Lavida blue e-motion. Range is the same as well; 150km. The Golf blue e-motion is meant to sell worldwide, the Lavida blue e-motion for China only. Not sure yet whether the Golf blue e-motion will be made in China as well but it seems likely.

ESP can be switched off for a hard-core electric ride.
