SAIC, parent of Nanjing MG, is working on a successor of the MG TF. It will be a new car on a new platform. Biggest news: the engine will move to the front. And that is, for now, the only news there is. One more little fact we heard: the Roewe 750 will go on sale in the UK from 2013, that’ll be a new one with hybrid power trains available.

MG might take a prototype of the new ‘TF’, whether the name stays is yet unsure, to the Beijing Auto Show that starts this Friday. The drawings certainly look good and even thought the engine went up front it is still recognizable as an MG.

  1. As far as I remember, the TF engine on the MG was in front.

I think this design is really nice. I think it would do much for the MG company. I think it needs a roadster to continue with its tradition of making roadsters. I have not heard anything lately about this. Being in the USA, I probably would not but I think – IMO – it should be made even if it never makes it to the USA.
