GM has applied for patent in China for the sporty Opel Astra GTC coupe. When it comes to China however it will be branded as Buick Excelle GTC, hot in the footsteps of the Buick Regal GS (Opel Insignia GS) that debuted at the Guangzhou Auto Show last month.

Power will come from the same 2.0 turbo with 220hp and 350nm that also powers the Buick Regal GS. No diesels for China. The smaller 1.4 turbo might joint the line-up later. The Excelle is made in China by the Shanghai-GM joint venture.
