The Luxgen 5 sedan was officially launched at the Tapei Auto Show in Taiwan. Luxgen is a brand-name from the Taiwanese Yulong-group. Luxgen already makes the Luxgen 7 MPV and the Luxgen 7 SUV.

Yulong has a joint venture with Dongfeng on the Chinese mainland, Dongfeng-Yulong, they make the Luxgen 7 SUV and soon the Luxgen 7 MPV for the Chinese market. The Luxgen 5 sedan will be made there as well. Production of the Luxgen 5 in Taiwan has started already.

Two engines: 1.8 turbo with 150hp and 230nm or a 2.0 turbo with 170hp and 256nm. Gearbox: 6-speed automatic. Price of the Luxgen 5 (converted from Taiwanese prices) starts at 23.000 USD and ends at almost 30.000 USD.

Best thing is the dashboard. In the middle a giant (9″) THINK-screen that was developed with Taiwanese smartphone-company hTc. The infotainment system runs on Google Android. It gets better, on top of the dash in front of the driver sits a fantastic looking head-up display:

Interesting head rests.
