Chery Cowin 5 listed & priced in China
The new Chery Cowin 5 has been officially listed on the China car market, price starts at 75.800 yuan and ends at 101.800 yuan. Power comes from a 1.8 with 132hp and 170nm, mated to a 5-speed manual or a CVT.
The Chery Cowin 5 is an ‘old fashioned’ Chery; lotta car for little money. Chery won’t make much money on it either but at least development was cheap, the Cowin 5 is based on the Chery Eastar/Oriental Sun. Cowin is Chery’s sub-brand name for its cheapest cars.
Size of the Cowin 5: 4770/1815/1445, wheelbase is 2700. This sort of vehicles is still very popular in China, not so much in the big cities but with the 700 million people living in the rest of the land. Taxi fleets like ‘m too.
Dash very basic, no design-hotsopotso here. Cheap plastics. But everything will work, and will still work when you get hit by a farm. There isn’t much competition for the Cowin 5, only one car comes close in concept and that is the Chevrolet Epica.
