Ford Focus ST takes the floor at the Beijing Auto Show

Workers are still working on Ford’s booth on the Beijing Auto Show, fortunately they already unpacked the new Ford Focus ST that will debut on Monday. The Focus ST is powered by a 2.0 turbocharged Ecoboost engine, good for 250hp and mated to a 6-speed manual.

The Focus ST will be listed on the Chinese car market late this year, the standard Focus is made in China by the Chang’an-Ford joint venture. The ST will attack in a strong growing segment of the Chinese car market: affordable small fast cars.

This segment is only just developing in the Chinese market where more and more young people have enough cash to buy a car. Before, the few youngsters who could afford a car would buy a big locally made cheap ‘n crappy Chinese SUV, the bigger the better. Those days are now gone…
