The facelifted Toyota Crown was expected to debut at last month’s Beijing Auto Show but it did not appear. Chinese media now report the updated Crown will be launched on the China car market in June. The Crown is made in China by the FAW-Toyota joint venture. Facelift includes a new grill with more chrome, new light units, new bumpers and an updated interior.
News from under the bonnet: the 4.3 V8 will be ditched because nobody bought it, the 2.5 V6 and 3.0 V6 will continue. Furthermore, Toyota is working on a sporty version of the Crown to attract younger buyers. Toyota does exactly the same with the new China-made Camry which is offered in standard-trim, for old people, and sporty -trim for young people. Price of the current Crown starts at 340.000 yuan.
