These are the very first spy shots of the new Chery QQ3 EV, based on the Chery QQ3 Sport. The electric motor comes with 16hp and 72nm, range is 100km. The QQ3 EV will hit the Chinese car market late this year. Price yet unknown but it will likely be the cheapest electric passenger car on the market.

The standard QQ3 Sport costs between 30.900 yuan and 50.900 yuan. The EV could be priced around 65.000 yuan, with subsidies.  This might persuade some people to buy one but not too many since the biggest problem facing electric cars in China isn’t solved yet, not by far: you can’t charge it anywhere. Sadly so, this will likely become another ‘demonstration project’ to make the Chinese central government happy, but its real sales numbers won’t matter on the market.
