An Audi A4 is not an Audi A4 in China

Reader Gooz12 knew there was something not right with this Audi A4 he saw on a highway in southern Guangdong Province. And indeed, this ain’t no Audi A4 at all. In fact, this is a Kia Qianlima with a super-fat body kit to make it look a bit like the Audi A4. The front is actually great work, one really has to look twice. Yellow stuff a bit too much. Back is less convincing:

The Qianlima is a popular car to change around a bit, earlier on I met one in Beijing disguised as a Mitsubishi Lancer EVO. The Kia Qianlima, best translated as ‘Long Distance Race Horse’, was a small sedan made in China by the Dongfeng-Yueda-Kia joint venture from 2003 until 2006. The Qianlima was based on the Hyundai Excel (X3), made in South Korea from 1998 until 2000.
