New spy shots from the facelifted FAW-Besturn B50 show the vehicle won’t change as much as expected. All we see is a new grille with three chromed bars, new head lights and redesigned bumpers. The facelifted Besturn B50 is expected to debut at the Guangzhou Auto Show later this month.
The current Besturn B50, price starts at 68.800 and ends at 125.800 yuan. Lone engine is the aforementioned 1.6, mated to a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic. Output is 106hp. The Besturn B50 is based on the old Mazda 6 that is still in production by the FAW-Mazda joint venture, the 1.6 liter engine comes from the Volkswagen Bora, which is made by the FAW-Volkswagen joint venture. The old platform and old engine will continue in the facelifted Besturn B50.
New rear lights, otherwise unchanged. Last week we heard the Besturn brand is in trouble. Sales are going down fast. Sales of the B50 were down 44% over the first three quarters of the year to only 37.700 vehicles. It seems unlikely the facelifted model will improve sales too much.
