The Dongfeng-Yueda-Kia joint venture is working on the launch of a new ‘Hua Qi’ sub-brand, the first vehicle will be based on the old Kia Cerato. At the same time work continues on yet another sub-brand, ‘Dianyue‘, which will make electric cars. The first Dianyue is also based on the old Cerato.
A new brand needs a new logo. Except for the logo and grille the vehicle loox the same as the Cerato. Power will come from the same ancient 1.6 that powered the Cerato, mated to a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic. It all might sound very crappy but the Hua Qi will be cheap. Price will likely start below 70.000 yuan and that is not much money for a sedan this size.
Hua Qi.
Kia badge still on the steering wheel.

Just what China needs, another sub brand.
When they have served their purpose most will fade away quietly….
