The Volvo V40 will be launched on the Chinese car market on April 16, priced between 240.000 and 320.000 yuan. The Volvo V40 Cross Country will follow later this year. The China-bound Volvo V40 will only be available with the 2.0 turbo 5-cylinder engine, good for 178hp and 300nm.

The Volvo V40 will be imported into China, there are no plans for local production yet. The new Geely-build Volvo factory in Chengdu will start with the Volvo S60L, Volvo XC60 and a yet mysterious new small sedan. The V40 will compete with other imported hatchback-wagon cars such as the Audi A3, Benz A and BMW 1.
