Spy Shots: MG5 Four-door Coupe testing in China again

New spy shots of the upcoming MG5 Four-door Coupe, seen here completely naked for the first time. The MG5 Four-door Coupe was expected to debut on the Beijing Auto Show but did not appear. Debut is now expected for the Chengdu Auto Show in September with a launch on the China car market in Q4.


The sporty coupe is based on the same platform as the MG5 hatchback and the Roewe 350 sedan. The MG5 Four-door Coupe will be powered by the same engines as the MG5 hatchback: a 109hp 1.5 and a 129hp 1.5 turbo. Price will start around 120.000 yuan and end around 150.000 yuan.

Yes, it’s not a sedan and it’s not a hatchback. Perhaps fastback is more fitting than “coupe”, which Merriam Webster tells us has just two doors.
In any case, these snapshots make it look more classy than the hatchback,

It a coupe because it has a sweeping rear but fixed window. A fastback usually has a hatch. Coupe’s were traditionally two door however even Rover with the P5B produced a 4 door coupe, much the same as Mercedes and VW do these days
