The new Dongfeng Fengxing S500 compact MPV will be launched on the Chinese car market on November 8. Price will start at 65.000 yuan and end at 99.900 yuan. The Fengxing S500 debuted in April on the Shanghai Auto Show.
Mini and compact MPV’s are a fast growing segment in China. City folk is starting to love them because they are bigger and more practical than similar priced sedans and hatchbacks. The small MPV’s used to be popular only in the countryside and third-and-lower tier cities, but they are finding their way to the mega cities now, and they will keep on coming.
A decent interior for the money, but colors are a bit dark and gray. Screen is non-touch but sharp and sharply sized. Steering wheel looks a tad too 2013. The Fengxing S500 will be available with two engines:
1) a 1.5 with 120hp and 143nm mated to a five-speed manual.
2) a 1.6 with 122hp and 151nm mated to a five-speed manual or a CVT.
The S500 seats seven in a 2+2+3 configuration.
Tiny tiny wheels, rear lights fashionably small, and usable but flimsily roof rails.
