A big fat flock of Spy Shots of the new Dongfeng Fengguang 580 SUV for China. The Fengguang 580 will debut on the Beijing Auto Show in April and launch on the Chinese car market soon thereafter. The interior features an amazing 10 inch horizontally orientated touch screen.
The screen in action. The infotainment system comes with full smartphone integration, USB and HDMI connectivity, satellite navigation, a wifi hot spot, 4G internet, and much more. Other goodies include a stop-start button, an electronic parking brake, keyless entry, cruise control, and an electric sunroof.
Another car, here with the automatic box.
The Fengguang 580 will be powered by a 1.5 liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine with an output of 150hp, mated to a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic.
Size: 4680/1845/1715, and wheelbase is 2780. Dongfeng will offer a five-seat and a seven-seat version. Price will range from 90.000 to 150.000 yuan. The Fengguang 580 is manufactured by Dongfeng Xiaokang, a commercial-vehicle division under Dongfeng Motor that makes a range of mini vans, mini MPV’s, and small trucks. The Fengguang 580 is their first true passenger-car SUV.
Front looks fine but not overly exciting. Shiny grille flanked by large headlights.
Wheels are far too small as usual. Tiny third-side window is trendily blocking your view. Roof rails appear to be useless.
The second row.
The 580 in red. Wheels seem even smaller here than on the white car.
The 1.5 turbo.
Single tiny pipe on the left. Chrome strip connecting taillights.
It is a fine looking car, a bit generic maybe, but not bad at all. But those wheels…
Check the rear wheel. Far too narrow and too small, swimming in the arch. Shark fin antenna on the roof.
