This pretty face belongs to the WEY Mocha, a new mid-size crossover for China. WEY is a “premium SUV” brand under Great Wall Motors. The brand was launched is 2016 and currently sells nine different cars. The Mocha comes with a daring design, featuring a gigantic grille with the largest WEY logo the world has ever seen. The grille is flanked by twin-LED lights.

The Mocha is powered by a 2.0 turbo + 48V petrol engine.  The engine has a total output of 212 hp and 328 Nm. The engine is mated to a 9-speed DCT gearbox, sending horses to all wheels. Top speed is 200 km/h and 0-100 is gone in 7.8 seconds. Fuel consumption is 7.0 liters per 100 kilometers. Size: 4875/1960/1690, and wheelbase is 2915. Later this year, WEY will add a PHEV version as well.

The interior looks impressive with a tall center tunnel that morphs into a twin-screen center stack. The main screen measures 14.6 inch. The smaller screen below it is 9.2 inch and the letter-box screen in front of the driver measures 9 inch. The Mocha is furthermore fitted with a 10-inch HUD system. The infotainment and driving systems are controlled by the “Coffee Intelligence” driving platform, which, or so WEY claims, works with artificial Intelligence (AI). The AI chip (CV25AQ CVflow) is sourced from US company Ambarella, and the main infotainment-control processor (Snapdragon™ SA8155P) is sourced from  Qualcomm.

The WEY Mocha is equipped with various driving-assistance systems, including automatic parking, a summon function, and semi-autonomous highway driving. WEY classifies the autonomous driving system as “Near-L3”, and says a Mocha test car completed a 70 kilometer fully autonomous highway test drive. The Mocha can receive over-the-air (OTA) updates.

With all these goodies one may expect that the WEY Mocha is a very expensive car. But it isn’t. Price starts at 175 800 yuan and ends at 218 800 yuan ($27 600 – 33 600). That makes the WEY Mocha to a very attractive package, and we expect it’ll sell rather well.
