New Buick GL8 Launched in China With A $34,000-$78,500 Price Range

The Buick branch of SAIC-GM has announced the launch of its updated Buick GL8. The update and launch cuts across the GL8 family including the GL8 ES Lu Zun, the GL8 Avia, and the GL8 Land Business Class.

First introduced in 1999, the GL8 has been at the forefront of the Buick brand and is one of the leading Chinese MPVs. Along with the new update, Buick announced that four new trims will be added to the series, bringing the total number of trims to 20. A breakdown of the models shows that the GL8 ES Lu Zun has nine trims, the GL8 Avia has three trims, while the GL8 Land Business Class comes in eight configurations.

The GL8 family will have a starting price of 232,900 yuan, and the most expensive models will cost 533,900 yuan. However, some select models will have a 15,000 yuan tax relief. A major change in the Buick GL8 is its new double cornice armor grille. The grille is larger than that of previous models and spreads across the face of the vehicle.

The Buick GL8 Avia

The GL8 Avia now comes with full matrix LED crystal diamond headlights,18-inch crown-shaped aluminum alloy wheels, concierge lights, and luxurious second-row VIP seats.

Buick GL8 ES Lu Zun

On the other hand, the GL8 ES Lu Zun version which comes in three trims has a new blue body paint. Its Luxury Heyue Edition and Smart Luxury Heyue Edition are fitted with ContiSeal self-repairing tires, sliding doors, and heated front seats. The new Heyue trim comes with 12.3-invh instrument panels and a central control screen.

Buick GL8 Land Business Class Welfare Version

The most remarkable addition to the GL8 Land Business Class is the Welfare trim. This trim offers second-row seats that cater to the needs of passengers using a wheelchair. With this new trim, passengers with disabilities will find it easier to enter and exit the car.

Unlike the ES Lu Zun and Avia, the Land Business Class does not have a dual-screen setup.For power, the lineup continues to use a turbocharged 2.0 engine with a 48V mild hybrid system capable of producing 174 kW and a peak torque of 350 Nm.
