On March 9, the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information technology (MIIT) unveiled the Neta GT. The GT is a two-door, four-seat sports car running on pure electric power. Those who have followed CarNewsChina’s coverage of the Neta E will notice that both cars share a lot in common. So what are the differences? Let’s find out.

In December 2022, we caught the first glimpse of Neta’s full electric sports car, and since then, we’ve reported sightings of the Neta E on Chinese streets. In a bid to showcase how sporty its new EV sports car would be, Neta decided to change the car’s name from ‘E’ to ‘GT.’ So basically, this is not an entirely new car. The automaker only decided to change the name from E to GT (Gran Tourer). When launched, it will be the first pure electric four-seat coupe ever.

In terms of exterior design, the Neta GT has a body proportion similar to a traditional fuel sports car with large headlights and ‘air vents’ in the hood. With a length/width/height of 4715/1979/1415 mm, and a 2770 mm wheelbase, the GT is slightly smaller than the Bentley Continental GT.

The GT is a four-seat car, but space in the back seems limited, so it is probably more a 2+2 than a full-space four-seater. Additionally, the GT has wide frame-less doors.

Inside, there’s a pretty dashboard with a 17.6-inch touchscreen in the middle and a curved screen for the instrument panel. The 3-spoke steering wheel is almost square, with a flat bottom and top. The leather seats look comfortable, but they seem a bit flat for a sports car.

The center tunnel has a wireless charging pad that seems big enough for two smartphones.

It may look like a liftback, but it has a sedan-style trunk. The C-pillars are painted in body color and black. Unexpectedly, the rear of the new car does not have a through-type taillight design, which makes the Neta GT look more like a traditional fuel sports car from the rear.

For power, according to the current information, Neta E will provide a variety of models to choose from, including single-motor rear drive and dual-motor four-wheel drive models. The cruising range is 560 kilometers and 580 kilometers, respectively. However, Neta is open to launching models with a cruising range of 660 kilometers in the future.

The maximum power of the front motor of the new car is 170 kW, and the maximum power of the rear motor is 170 kW. This means the single-motor rear-wheel drive model will get 170 kW, while the dual-motor four-wheel drive version will get 340 kW. The top speed is limited to 190 km/h on both versions.

We can also see images of four different alloy wheels, cameras in the front fender and on the mirror, a gray and white Neta logo, and a radar unit behind the windshield.

Neta is a Chinese EV brand under Hozon Auto, founded in 2018. The brand sells three cars: the Neta S sedan, the Neta U-II SUV, and the Neta V crossover. The Neta E is their fourth car. It is based on the same platform as the Neta S sedan.

Billed to launch later this month, the arrival of the GT will further enrich Neta’s product line and make the brand’s sports label more prominent. Since there are no similar electric coupes in the works, it will have the market all to itself. The closest concept is the Polestar 6, scheduled for 2026.
