Recently, Chery released the official images of its upcoming brand-new pure electric mid-size SUV, eQ7 (internal code name). The car is expected to launch in the second half of 2023, and the price range may be between 150,000 – 200,000 RMB (21,800 – 29,100 USD). Once launched, its biggest rival will be the BYD Song Plus EV.
According to Chery, the eQ7 will be built on its exclusive all-aluminum pure electric technology platform. Chery claims that this platform can reduce the weight of the vehicle by about 25% and that the entire body will use a large number of aluminum materials to improve performance.
In terms of appearance, the Chery eQ7’s lower front face adopts a trapezoidal layout and comes with the popular split headlight group. The high and low beam lamps are integrated with the air ducts on both sides of the front face.
From the side, it has a low body posture, rectangular wheel eyebrows, 19-inch wheels, blackened mirrors, and a blackened D-pillar to create a suspended roof effect. As a mid-size SUV, the size of Chery eQ7 is 4675/1910/1660mm, with a 2830mm wheelbase. Power will come from a motor that outputs 155kW and a lithium iron phosphate battery pack. The maximum speed is 180km/h.
The rear adopts the popular through-type taillight group design, and black elements are added to the interior for embellishment, making it recognizable when lit up at night. The Chery English logo is displayed in the middle.
Lastly, the previously released interior images showed a dual-screen design for the instrument panel and central control screen. Below the central control screen are symmetrical air-conditioning outlets. There is no gear lever present in the center console.
