According to the latest report from the Association of Automobile Importers in Israel, Chinese automaker BYD continued to be the champion in the country’s electric vehicle (EV) market, with sales of 1,377 EVs in April 2023. BYD is ranked fourth in the overall Israeli vehicle market with a 7.1% market share (including ICEs).
In April 2023, BYD sold 1,377 EVs in Israel, accounting for about 40% of total EV sales. BYD has become one of the top automakers in Israel, with its primary export model, the ATTO 3, accounting for most of its sales in the country.

From January to April 2023, BYD delivered a cumulative total of 7,299 EVs in Israel, exceeding the total of 3,639 for the second Geely, 2,023 for the third Hyundai, and 1,441 for the fourth Tesla.

BYD exported 14,827 EVs in April alone; of those, 9,935 were the ATTO 3. About two-thirds of BYD’s exported models are ATTO 3. A large portion of it has been shipped to Israel.
The ATTO 3 has become the mainstay of BYD’s sales in Israel, with most of its vehicles sold being the ATTO 3. This model has a starting price of 163,500 ILS (45,400 USD) in Israel, which is significantly higher than its starting price of 139,800 RMB (20,100 USD) in China and 38,000 EUR (41,400 USD) in Europe.
In addition to the ATTO 3, BYD launched two other models in Israel in Q1 2023, the Han and Tang. The Han has delivered 88 vehicles in Israel, with a starting price of 335,000 ILS (92,600 USD). The Tang, on the other hand, has delivered 162 cars, starting at 316,000 ILS (87,400 USD).

BYD’s production capacity in China is increasing, while demand growth in China has slowed down. Therefore, BYD plans to increase exports. Israel is BYD’s largest overseas market outside of Thailand, and BYD’s performance in Israel has helped to open up markets in the surrounding areas.
