Interior of the BYD Seal DM-i

As we can see in official images, the interior of the Seal DM-i stays in line with spy shots that we have previously covered. Alongside with BYD Seal EV, Dolphin and Seagull, this model adopts the design language called “Ocean Aesthetics”. It comprises distinguishing door handles that look like seashells, a steering wheel, similar to the fish’s tail, and the center console that also looks like a fish’s tail. The interior is finished in a white-purple color scheme.

On the other hand, the Seal DM-i brings some new design features. One of them is a center tunnel. It is quite wide, with two wireless phone charging pads, a small crystal gear selector (BYD calls it “Ocean Heart”), a set of physical buttons and a set of touch buttons. What is more, the center tunnel of the Seal DM-i got a hidden compartment with two cup holders.

The center console of the Seal DM-i has a signature BYD’s floating rotatable screen with a diameter of 15.6 inches. As for the instrument panel, it is represented by the 10.25-inch screen. And, if these screens aren’t enough, you can also have a W-HUD. We can also underline that the Seal DM-i’s sound system is made by Dynaudio, a consistent BYD supplier.

On the second row of the BYD Seal DM-i, we can notice lots of space and the flat floor. It has an armrest, three headrests, and ISOFIX interface. The second row of this sedan got relatively long cushions. Here, we will also underline that the Seal DM-i has a 31-color ambient lighting.

More on the BYD Seal DM-i

Previously, we have reported that the BYD Seal DM-i was previously known as the Chaser 07 or Destroyer 07. However, BYD suddenly decided to rename it to Seal DM-i. Its exterior design stays in line with the Seal EV. As for its dimensions, they are 4980/1890/1495 mm with a wheelbase of 2900 mm. As for the power output of the Seal DM-i, it is represented by a 1.5-liter ICE and an electric motor. Its electric range has two options: for 121 km and 200 km. The price tag of the Seal DM-i is unknown. But it will be disclosed soon, as its debut is scheduled for this month.

  1. Why not state upfront that it’s not a BEV, but a PHEV?
I wasted a whole 5 min reading till I realised this.
PHEV’s are 20th century tech which very few people in this space are interested in.
