The Neta Aya is a facelift of the brand’s cheapest car, the Neta V. It has recently got the production permission from the Chinese government, and it is now ready for the deliveries. They will start right after the launch that is scheduled for August 3. The Neta Aya is a small SUV with a 4-meter length, 5 seats and 318 km of range.
First, let’s speak about the naming of the Neta Aya. As mentioned, it is a facelift of the Neta V electric vehicle. Nowadays, the Neta’s model line comprises vehicles with simple names like V, U, S and GT. So, why have they decided to come up with this name? It has appeared that Aya is actually an abbreviation that means “Amazing, Young, Active”. It definitely sounds like a PR-speech. But we can clearly see that Neta positions itself as a daily driver for young people. And it seems that this group of buyers finds it boring to buy a car named “V”. So, Neta made the name of their bestseller to sound more attractive. It is also sounds quite similar to ‘Kiai’.
Neta Aya is ready for the deliveries
The Neta Aya got the production permission from the Chinese Government on July 14. And 16 days after, the first mass-production models are already on the car trailers. It is an incredible speed. Here, we should mention that images of the first batch of Neta Aya were uploaded by Zhang Yong, Neta Auto CEO. He has also stated: “Aya，上市即可交付！”. We can translate it like “Aya, available for the deliveries right after the launch”.
As we can see in pictures, the first 90 vehicles are already on the car trailers and about 90 more are waiting for their carriers next to the Hozon Auto’s factory. And it looks that Neta will need much more of these because in H1 2023 the Neta V sold 19,689 units domestically. Moreover, Neta shipped 5,955 V models to Thailand. However, there is a chance that Aya and V will be sold simultaneously. The V will be aimed at commercial services like car sharing, while Aya will be focused more on private customers.
Briefly on Neta Aya
Previously, we have covered the Neta Aya. It is a small electric SUV for big cities. As mentioned, it is a facelift of the Neta V model. The Aya has a different front bumper with bigger air intake, and a single taillight unit on the back. As for the dimensions, they are 4070/1690/1540 mm with a wheelbase of 2420 mm.
The Neta Aya looks sportier than the V, but it has the same powertrain. So, the entry level car is powered by a 40-kW (54 hp) e-motor. The top-trim level has 70 kW (95 hp). As for the batteries, they have yet to be revealed. However, we do know that the Aya will have 318 km of range. Nowadays, the Neta V costs 73,900 – 103,800 yuan (10,300 – 14,500 USD). The Aya’s price tag has yet to be revealed.
