Chery announced that its upcoming brand-new all-electric SUV called eQ7 will start pre-sale on August 7. The first batch of the Chery eQ7 rolled off the production line on July 12. Recently, mass-produced cars of the eQ7 have arrived at dealerships throughout China. The pre-sale price range will be between 130,000 – 200,000 yuan (18,100 – 28,000 USD).
Designed based on Chery’s all-aluminum platform, the overall weight of the frame is reduced by 30% and the power density is increased by 35%, according to the carmaker. As a mid-size SUV, the car measures 4675/1910/1660mm, and the wheelbase is 2830mm.
Furthermore, Chery eQ7 adopts a rear-wheel drive layout, is equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous motor that outputs 155 kW and 360 Nm, and provides 4 driving modes, 3 steering modes, and 2 braking modes. Its top speed is 180 km/h. The battery comes from a ternary lithium battery pack with a capacity of 71 kWh, offering two pure electric cruising ranges (NEDC) of 512 km and 650 km. Both slow and fast charging functions are supported and can charge from 30% – 80% in just 30 minutes.
Inside, the cockpit has a contrasting color scheme, is covered in a large area of suede material, and is decorated with wood and chrome materials. The most eye-catching component is probably the 24.6-inch dual-screen, which consists of a 12.3-inch full LCD instrument panel and a 12.3-inch central control screen. The eQ7 is also the first mid-size SUV equipped with a 24.6-inch dual screen in China, Chery claims.
For safety, the interior is equipped with up to 10 airbags, an anti-lock braking system, an electronic stability program, a tire pressure monitoring system, and an advanced driving assistance system that provides 14 active safety functions, including adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping, blind spot monitor, and fatigue driving reminders.
In addition, the seats can be electronically adjusted and support heating, ventilation, and massage.
