On September 15, Changan launched its 2024 (third generation) CS55 Plus SUV. The new car is available in three models, priced from 99,900 – 113,900 yuan (13,700 – 15,700 USD). As a facelift model, the 2024 CS55 Plus has a redesigned front face, while the rear and interior remain largely unchanged. Since its launch in 2017, the Changan CS55 series has accumulated a sales volume of approximately 800,000 units.
Positioned as a compact SUV, the 2024 CS55 Plus has dimensions of 4539/1865/1680mm, and the wheelbase is 2656mm. Viewed from the side, the petal-shaped rims are highly recognizable.
In the front, the grille adopts a frameless design in which it is wider at the top and narrower at the bottom. Two symmetrical decorative C-shape chrome strips surround the large grille. The brand logo is positioned at the center. Below the license plate is a trapezoidal grille.
At the rear, the polygonal taillights are not the popular through-type ones, and they contain a total of 128 LED units. The high-mounted brake lights are integrated with the roof spoiler.
The interior is still equipped with a 10-inch full LCD instrument panel and a 10.25-inch floating central control screen. The physical buttons under the air-conditioning outlets have been removed. The car’s level 2 advanced driving assistance functions include automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control. Other configurations are an openable panoramic sunroof, a built-in driving recorder, multi-color ambient lights, voice recognition interaction, and OTA updates.
Furthermore, the central console has been upgraded to increase the area of padding on both sides and replaced the traditional gear lever with a smaller rotary shifter to free up the wireless charging pad in the front and the cup holder on the right side.
The new car adopts a 5-seater layout in which all the seats are wrapped in imitation leather material. The driver seat supports electric adjustment. The high-end model also provides heated front seats and an armrest in the second row.
The powertrain consists of a 1.5T engine, mated to a 7-speed DCT. The engine has a maximum power of 138 KW and a peak torque of 300 Nm. Its top speed is 190 km/h and the comprehensive fuel consumption is 6.94L/100km.
