Avatr, the premium new energy vehicle brand jointly developed by Changan, Huawei, and CATL, officially launched its first wagon model, the Avatr 06T, on April 22, 2026. The new model is positioned as an all-scenario sports touring wagon, offering both pure electric and extended-range powertrains across five variants, with prices ranging from 219,900 yuan to 279,900 yuan (31,900 – 40,600 USD).

Design and dimensions

The Avatr 06T adopts what the company calls “Future Sports Aesthetics,” inspired by the diving posture of a peregrine falcon, creating a low-slung, wide-body stance. The front end features Avatr’s signature dual-layer LED light cluster design, with high and low beam lights embedded in the front bumper sides, complemented by a trapezoidal cooling vent with an active grille.

The vehicle measures 4,940mm in length, 1,960mm in width, and 1,455mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,940mm. Semi-hidden door handles compliant with new national standards are featured, along with optional electronic exterior mirrors to optimise aerodynamics. At the rear, a roof spoiler, rear window wiper, and through-type taillight design complete the look, while roof rails underscore its touring wagon identity.

The cockpit

Inside, the 06T features an embracing cockpit design. The cabin boasts a four-screen linkage system, including a 35.4-inch 4K panoramic ring screen, a 15.6-inch floating central control screen, and dual 6.7-inch high-definition exterior mirror screens. Three interior themes are available: Twilight Purple/Smoke White, Deep Purple, and Dai Red.

The intelligent cockpit runs on HarmonySpace 5, featuring a built-in MoLA large model that supports AI vehicle control, full-scenario intelligent collaboration, and voice interaction.

Intelligent Driving

For intelligent driving, the 06T is equipped with the Huawei Qiankun ADS 4 system. High-spec models feature Huawei Qiankun 896-line LiDAR combined with 4D millimetre-wave radar, capable of identifying low obstacles as small as 14cm at 120 meters. The entry-level model features Huawei Qiankun’s in-cabin laser vision system with a dual-optical-path architecture.

Powerful electric and range-extended options

The 06T is powered by the Taihang Intelligent Control 2.0 system with Taihang distributed electric drive:

  • Pure Electric Dual-Motor Version: Rear-mounted dual motors offering maximum power outputs of 450 kW (603 hp) and 502 kW (673 hp), paired with 72.88 kWh and 87.3 kWh LFP battery packs, respectively, achieving CLTC ranges of 652 km and 741 km.
  • Pure Electric Tri-Motor Version: Features a front-one, rear-two, three-motor all-wheel-drive system with a combined output of 712 kW (955 hp), accelerating from 0-100 km/h in 2.78 seconds, matched with an 87.3 kWh battery pack for a CLTC range of 680 km.
  • Extended-Range Dual-Motor Version: Equipped with a 1.5T range extender, offering a pure electric CLTC range of 330 km and a combined range of 1,250 km.

Avatr sold 4,033 and 5,143 cars in February and March this year, respectively, but it never released its January sales figures, which were likely not very good. Due to the massive pressure from losses each brand is facing, Changan has decided to integrate the Avatr and Deepal brands together this year.
