The Xpeng P5 was initially launched in 2021 with a starting price tag of 157,900 yuan (21,600 USD). Such a low price level was reached because of government subsidies. After the subsidies were eliminated, the P5’s price tag increased, influencing the model’s sales volume. This sedan became less desirable in China. In August 2023, Xpeng sold 1,268 units. The cumulative sales of the model reached 12,847 units in 2023, down 56.6% Y-O-Y. This is the main reason for launching the cheaper Xpeng P5 version.
