The 2024 model year Xpeng P5 electric sedan started sales in China. Thanks to LiDAR sensors absence, it starts 10% cheaper than the older model. The entry level Xpeng P5 2024 costs 156,900 yuan (21,500 USD). Xpeng continues the Chinese price war to boost the P5’s sales volume.
The Xpeng P5 was initially launched in 2021 with a starting price tag of 157,900 yuan (21,600 USD). Such a low price level was reached because of government subsidies. After the subsidies were eliminated, the P5’s price tag increased, influencing the model’s sales volume. This sedan became less desirable in China. In August 2023, Xpeng sold 1,268 units. The cumulative sales of the model reached 12,847 units in 2023, down 56.6% Y-O-Y. This is the main reason for launching the cheaper Xpeng P5 version.
